Outer Banks Child | Poppy Turns 4

Poppy had lots of firsts when she turned 4, here is documentation of just a few of them...

It's hard to believe our baby is 4 years old!!  She is so grown in some ways, likes to make her own breakfast, bath, wash her own hair but she's still a baby in others.  She won't let us get rid of her rocking chair, we rock before nap and bed every day and read all the stories she wants and she still loves to snuggle her "hoppu" when she goes to bed.  I will let her take it to college with her, it's the sweetest thing!

Many thanks to Jack Baumer for the amazing ice cream cake!  It was strawberry, caramel, chocolate and vanilla ice cream cake with chocolate cake.  Delicious!  She does not like us singing happy birthday to her, she hates loud noises.

She had her first visit to the dentist!  Robyn at Dr. Jacobson's office is incredible!!  She was soooo much fun, gave her tons of choices and really really got her excited about taking care of her teeth!  Being an Outer Banks child has so many perks, the small town nature and having a personal relationship with your doctors and providers is a huge one!  If you're looking for someone to take care of your kiddo's teeth, Dr. Jacobson's office is beyond amazing!!

Poppy loved catching the water so that was much of her visit! I'm not sure who had more fun, Robyn or Poppy!

Now that Pops is 4, we also let her climb trees by herself, it's her favorite thing to do!  She loves to pretend she's a fairy living in a tree!!

And the most exciting part of turning 4 is she got to celebrate it at Montessori!  The teachers, Mrs. Ida, Nelisa and Ginger made her feel so special and she just radiated with pride!  They hold the earth and walk around the "sun" 4 times or however old they are turning, add the months of the year and get to show off photos from each year of their life.

They have show and share and you also get to bring in a cake or other fun sweet for them.  This is our cake that we made.  Not pretty and NOTHING to brag about, definitely NOT Pinterest worthy but it was made with love and fun. We went to the coop and got the chicken eggs, measured the flour, sugar, added the vanilla and when it came time to flip the cake out of the pan it all fell apart, which Poppy loved as she got to try it!  We ran out of one homemade icing so we used the other two we had, chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter.

We are so thankful for all the teachers and students at Heron Pond, they teach so many life skills and really make the kids responsible for themselves and instill self confidence and a love of learning.
