Hometown wedding on the water and winery reception

We have been looking forward to Adam and Erika's wedding!  We knew it would be gorgeous, and have such a super fun party for reception!  Back in December, we met them in Virginia for their engagement photos on the beach and then headed to Bush Gardens.  It was a cold and windy day, but they were all smiles and laughter!

Gena, and her team at Platinum Party Planning, had everything exquisitely planned and running smoothly.  With mimosa's and music, the girls got ready at Erika's parents house.  Glimmer came by to do hair, and Jenn Brosch of Beauty and Baubles, did make-up.

Adam and Erika exchanged wedding gifts to be opened separately.  Adam completely surprised Erika with a gorgeous necklace to wear during the wedding.

Annaleise, Erika's niece and super star reader at Kitty Hawk Elementary, checking out the wedding gift from her new uncle.

The Heyder's are a tight and loving family. Erika wanted to do a first look for her dad, brothers and nephew, Eli. Markus, Erika's older brother, had been up all night while his wife Erin gave birth to their baby boy that morning! Such a big day for their family, and the look on their faces are priceless!

Erika giving her sweet Vati a kiss. The light was so pretty heading out on their dock.

The boys all got ready in another house a few minutes away. Everyone was shuttled in to the ceremony site at The Waterside Village.

Erika, being a native to Currituck, wanted to have her ceremony close to the water.  The Waterside Village in Grandy has a gorgeous pavilion on the Currituck Sound.

Adam and Erika met on an airplane, were engaged on the same flight years later, and have spent many hours flying next to each other with their trips abroad, so it's only fitting that their wedding programs be made to fold into paper airplanes! Guests tossed the paper airplanes at them as they exited their ceremony.

Erika's brothers perfectly timed an airplane to fly over as soon as the ceremony was finished. "Love is in the air" flew across the sky, and Erika's reaction is priceless!

We headed over to the dock as soon as ceremony was over to take some bridal party pictures. Adam and all of his groomsmen are professional basketball players and can jump really high (only one of those statements are true).

Adam gave all of his groomsmen sunglasses to match their ties. He also gave them pretty horsey socks.

The reception was held at Sanctuary Vineyards in Jarvisburg. The winery was gorgeous with teal uplighting on the steel tanks and the café lights strung across the ceiling.

Kelly's Restaurant catered dinner and had everyone full and happy.

Erika and Adam's friends gave THE BEST TOASTS!  There were tears, laughter, and napkin in the face embarrassing moments.  Any good wedding speech will evoke all three reactions!

The couple danced their first dance to a very fitting,'Come fly with me".

A sweet dance for Erika and her Vati. He's 89, but twirling and spinning his baby girl all over that dance floor!

During the reception, Adam and his fellas put on their aviator shades and serenaded Erika to 'You've lost the loving feeling'!

The band, Hot Cakes, came down from Virginia Beach and kept the party going non stop until the end of the night.

A few strong (and brave guests) hoisted the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs for their Hora dance to the infectious sounds of "Hava Nagila".

Erika has been planning her wedding day since she was 14, (without having met her future husband) and one thing has remained consistent- her desire for a Papa John's Garlic-Butter fountain at her reception! Dreams really do come true, friends!

With glow stick exit and they're off to Tahiti!  Thank you so much for having me there to document your big day!

Mozel Tov!
